Some people may believe it is old fashioned, but God is unchanging. I understand some facts about how God wired men and women. I see how in the animal kingdom, the male pursues the female, who responds some kind of way. God also put it in a man to desire to pursue a woman. I believe this is the natural order and the way He intends it to be; not a woman pursuing a man.
God’s ways transcend time.
When a man is expressing interest in a woman, it is important for her to be pleasantly responsive, no matter how she feels about him. Whether the feelings are mutual or not, she should be kind, gentle, and transparent.
A Christian woman should only be involved romantically with a Christian man. When a woman knows she is not interested, she should not lead a man on. At the same time, she may not be sure yet, and decide she wants to get to know him better.
Here are some positive and encourging ways to respond to a man’s interest:
1) Pray for him, and pray for God’s guidance in the situation.
2) Be godly light to him (Matthew 5: 16).
3) Love him (godly, sister in Christ type love), having a kind attitude and kind behavior toward him.
4) Respect him.
5) Be observant and stick to the facts. Sometimes, a woman falling in love or interested in a man may get carried away in feelings or fantasy, but sticking to real facts is key.
6) Do not compromise on holy standards.
7) Express gratitude for his kindness.
8) Be willing to consider compromise if necessary on personal preferences such as height, weight, hair color, etc. Character is most important.
9) Be gracious and patient.
10) Encourage/affirm him in the Lord.
11) Don’t affirm any unrighteousness.
12) When trying to get to know someone, it is wise to do a lot of listening, be observant and discerning. Women may talk a lot or too much sometimes, and inadvertently sabotage themselves.
13) Let him initiate in showing romantic interest and taking action accordingly.
14) Respond to him graciously and authentically, safely.
“For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it. I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions.” Proverbs 8 :11- 12.
