Letting our lights shine in a dark world means living right according to God’s standards as well as speaking the truth in love. For many years, I have consistently noticed a particular problem among some women.
I think many of us have had a season or seasons where we have experienced this problem as targets or recipients, and as perpetrators-at least, to an extent. Consequently, I first examine myself. This post is an important reminder for me as well as for others.
The problem I am referring to is envy. Envy is a sin found in humans- both males and females. However, in this post I will be primarily addressing some women’s envy of other women.
Plenty people experience envy for different reasons at different times. For some people, they get their thoughts back in order. They dismiss any feelings of covetousness and resentment. For other people, they live their lives competing, comparing, envying and resenting others.
Sometimes, envy even leads to hatred and harmful behaviors!
Some ladies envy other girls and women, as it relates to those other women’s beauty, physiques, relationships and marriages.
There are other things that some women are envious of, but envying women for their appearance and for their relationships with men are common issues with many women. Envy is actually demonic.
Why is envying others demonic? Envy is one of the seven deadly sins. Envy is not rooted in love. To envy someone is to be covetous, ungrateful, selfish and entitled. Covetousness is a lack of gratitude, a lack of contentment, a sign of entitlement, greed and idolatry.
Women who are envious of other women can be dangerous. Some of these women tend to manifest malice in various ways, neurosis, psychosis and may physically harm, hinder and sabotage other women.
Some women are very insecure. Envy of other women appears to often be a byproduct of certain women being generally male-centered as well. What do I mean by male-centered?
I mean women who pretty much live for and define themselves by male attention and male approval. I’m referring to women who basically find having men’s love and attention to be a lifeline.
This post is a reminder for us all to be grateful and to not compare or compete in unhealthy ways with others. It is a reminder that because of envy, some women are actually quite dangerous to other women or to people in general.
What I have learned from experience is that women who are envious tend to act very strangely towards the women they envy. I say this because the women who targeted me had begun to act very strangely and I did not understand why at first.
They acted funny. Sometimes, you may not realize why other women are acting funny, but in my experiences, I eventually found out why. It almost always led back to envy.
I experienced being slandered, gossiped about, intentionally excluded from things as well as being bullied by these types of women. Now, when a woman begins to act strangely around me, my antenna goes up. I begin to pray and I also keep an eye on her.
Sometimes, I shift my energy towards her from being friendly and engaging to being more apathetic. Because, why are you acting weird and funny? I think to myself. Sometimes, a woman then stops with her strange attitude and energy & becomes friendlier.
She may have sensed I noticed her attitude towards me. Who knows? Other women are persistent and bullying with their envy. They give dirty looks, exclude other women, gossip, slander. Some will become inappropriately involved with other women’s men.
Occasionally, I distance from certain women because of their strange auras that make me uncomfortable. I can still be civil and helpful to someone if necessary-all while keeping important boundaries.
This is also a reminder not to idolize men, women, or any thing. Man-obsession or male-centeredness seems to be a root cause of a lot of some women’s envy of other women. It’s as if other women are the automatic enemies in their minds, because other women are seen as competition.
Idolatry is always wrong, because it is sin against God. Our goal should be to please God. Jesus is King and only Jesus can truly satisfy. We are enough in Him and we have enough in Him, Friends.
